Interview Q&A
How long have you been in business?
We have been in business since 1997. We are incorporated in Illinois where we were located until we moved to Scottsdale in 2007.
What is your primary product or service?
We provide Sunday School curriculum for K - 6th grades using the Workshop Rotation Model. Our curriculum is creative, biblically based, theologically grounded, and kid-friendly. Our products can be downloaded from our site.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
Joyce and Bob Claus created a new Sunday School called the Workshop Rotation Model at Southminster Presbyterian Church in Arlington Heights, IL in the early 1990s. We helped create seminars and national conferences on this model. At the first of those, we were asked if we would sell our curriculum. We "fell" into this market because we were the only ones at the time to provide curriculum.
Joyce is a teacher with 26 years in public school instruction. She holds a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction. Her experience includes years in church education with children. Bob is a Presbyterian pastor with 16 years of experience in children and youth ministry. He wrote his doctoral thesis on the Workshop Rotation Model.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Because our curriculum is electronic media, our end users can readily adapt the theology and lesson plans for their specific situation.
Our curriculum offers rich additional resources that are not available in other curricula.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
As a web-based business using only electronic products, we only need one location.
Provide detailed directions to your location
We do not do business at our location. All business is conducted on the internet or phone.
What type of payments do you accept?
We accept VISA and MASTERCARD, plus offer payments by check on a 30 day invoice.
Which areas do you service?
We service all churches who use our curriculum. We provide consulting services to churches or their ministry leaders.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Potter's Publishing is incorporated as a S-Corp and Bob and Joyce Claus are the sole shareholders. We run the daily operations.
What are your hours of operation?
Monday - Friday, 8 - 5pm.
